Argelio F. Acosta, 94, of Passaic, passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2021.
Born and raised in Unión de Reyes, Cuba, Mr. Acosta later lived in Güines, working in Havana, before coming to the United States in April of 1964. He lived briefly in New York City and then Union City, New Jersey before eventually settling in Passaic and residing there since. While in Cuba, he had been employed as a banker with Banco Nacional. He enjoyed cooking, tending to his roses, wearing his suits and traveling around the world. A particular passion of his was celebrating Noche Buena (Christmas Eve) with a lechón (roast suckling pig). Over the years he entertained many many family and friends with this Cuban tradition creating wonderful life-long memories for all.
Mr. Acosta was predeceased by four dearly missed sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nila N. (nee Hernandez), of Passaic; by his three loving and devoted children: Yazmín N. Acosta and her husband, Douglas Rondash, of Fairfield, Fernando A. Acosta and his wife, Frances, of Verona and John F. Acosta and his wife, Lisa, of North Brunswick; his dear sister, Marina Acosta, of Guttenberg; two loved grandchildren: Gabriel N. Acosta and Jocelyn R. Acosta; and a cherished great-granddaughter.
Private funeral services were held under the direction of Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at www.komen.org would be preferred and appreciated.
