Marcel Louis Mura, 82, of Greenboro, NC, formerly of Netcong, NJ, passed away March 28, 2024. Born in Passaic, Mr. Mura was raised in Garfield and was a graduate of Garfield High School. He entered the United States Navy and served honorably from 1960 to 1964. Mr. Mura joined the ranks of the New Jersey State Police in 1965 and served with them during his career. He resided in Netcong, New Jersey where he raised his family. Mr. Mura then moved to Pennsylvania, Tennessee and more recently North Carolina. He was an avid Lionel train collector and was a member of the Lionel train Association.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen (nee Schwartzinger) in 2019; his sister, Joane A. West in 1996; and his parents, Louis and Berta Mura.
Survivors include two devoted sons, Michael Joseph Mura and his wife, Ann Marie and James Louis Mura; and two loving grandchildren, Eric Michael Mura and Brian Joseph Mura.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 8, 2024 at 9:00 am at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Passaic Street @ Terrace Avenue in Lodi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s New Jersey, 425 Eagle Rock Avenue, #203, Roseland, NJ 07068.
