Maria (nee Altamura) Sciancalepore, 84, of Clifton formerly of Hoboken, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022. Born and raised in Molfetta, Italy, Maria came to the United States at the age of 32 and settled in Hoboken where she resided for 35 years. She has lived the last 19 years in Clifton. Before her retirement, Maria was a self-employed seamstress and also known for her famous Italian cookies.
She was a parishioner of St. Francis the Apostle R.C. Church in Hoboken. Maria was a member of Societa Madonna Dei Martiri in Hoboken and Federazione Molfettesi D’America.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Marino Sciancalepore in 1996; her parents, Pantaleo Altamura and Anna Raffaella Corriere Altamura; her sister, Isabella Altamura and one grandson, Mario Sciancalepore.
Survivors include: her sons, Leo Sciancalepore and his wife, Jeannine, Vincent Sciancalepore and his wife, Nella; her daughter, Rosanna Rodriquez and her husband, Michael; two brothers, Onofrio Altamura and his wife, Carla and Mauro Altamura and his wife, Marinella; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 29, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Please meet at church. Entombment to follow at Flower Hill Cemetery in North Bergen. Arrangements are by Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton.
