Peter Durso, passed away on December 1, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Lillian (nee Carroll). Devoted father of Susan Bauman, father-in-law of Steven Bauman, and loving grandfather of Douglas Robert Bauman. Son of the late Rose and Anthony Durso, he was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and resided most of his adult life on Long Island. In his later years, he spent summers in Woodland Park, NJ and the winter months in Naples, Florida.
After graduating from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in 1949, he began working at the green Point Bank while attending evening classes at CCNY. He entered Army military service in 1953 and served as a Court Reporter in the Judge Advocate Section of Second Army Headquarters on Governor’s Island. He was later transferred to Korea where he was assigned to AFAK (Armed Forces Assistance to Korea) Program at Eighth Army Headquarters in Seoul. Upon discharge, he returned to work at the Bank and continued evening classes at CCNY from which he received his B.A. degree in 1959. In 1961, he married Lillian. He retired from Green Point Bank in 1995 after serving as senior Vice President in charge of Data processing where he ran the Bank’s Data Center 24/7.
The family will receive family and friends at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:15 am from the funeral home and 10:00 am at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, NJ.
