Albert P. Gilligan, Jr., 87, of Wayne, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024. Born in Newburgh, New York, Mr. Gilligan raised his family in Old Bridge, New Jersey. He was employed with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in New Brunswick for many years. Albert was admired by many for his hard work ethic. He retired in 2003 and then moved to Delray Beach, Florida in 2005 where he enjoyed the sunshine. After his wife’s passing in 2011, he moved back to New Jersey.
Albert was an avid collector of military memorabilia. He loved photography, watching classic films and was a history buff. Albert enjoyed time spent with his family and will be remembered for his dry sense of humor.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverly A. (nee Ciuppa) Gilligan in 2011; and his parents, Albert and Maureen (nee O’Gorman) Gilligan.
Survivors include: his son, Michael S. Gilligan and his wife, Alfia; his daughter, Patricia A. “Patty” Di Giaimo and her husband, Charles; his grandchildren, Danielle N. Borejko and her husband, Justin of Old Bridge and Michael C. Di Giaimo; one great-granddaughter, Giuliana Beverly Borejko; his sister, Pat Gilligan and Jean Van Heusen; his sister-in-law, Jo-Ann Cornetto and her husband, Alfred; two nephews, Kevin Cornetto, his wife, Jaklin and their children, Lucas and Sophia and Christopher Cornetto, his wife Laura and their children, Christopher, Jr. and Lincoln.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10:30 am at the funeral home followed by entombment at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson.
