Albert F. Runo, 86, of Clifton, passed away on November 25, 2020. Born in Passaic, Al was a lifelong resident of Clifton. Prior to his retirement from Kings Supermarket in 1996, he had a successful and life-long career in the supermarket industry. Al was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served honorably from 1957 to 1959. Al loved cooking gourmet meals and showed his love through the elaborate and delicious meals he prepared for his family. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in the backyard haven he created. He enjoyed puzzles and showed immense patience and persistence with the most challenging. He enjoyed fishing and especially sharing special times teaching his children and grandchildren the sport. He was a proud man, with great integrity, loyalty, sense of responsibility and love of his family.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Larry, William and Philip Runo.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Bennie (nee Childress Scro); children - William Runo, Christine Manley (Jerry); Sherry Scro Peralta (Danny); Michael Runo; and Debbie Scro Montrose (Ken); brother, Hank Runo (Nona); sister, Florence Runo; sister-in-law Carole Runo; grandchildren, Katrin, Brook, Ryan, Zachary, Jason, Joshua, Jessica, Jacob, Paige and Kyle; and three great-grandchildren.
Visiting will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 10:00 at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Please meet at church. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to ALS Association-Greater NY Chapter, (als@als-ny.org) or a Veterans charity of your choice.
