Albert P. Sabeh, 94, of Clifton, passed away on Monday, July 12, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. His will to live and determination to maintain an active role in varied business operations up until his final days, was a testament to his work ethic and sense of purpose.
Born in Paterson, Al developed a value system based on family loyalty and a profound sense of responsibility. As a young Marine, he learned that courage was not about being fearless. Courage was contingent on overcoming fear and approaching challenges with organization and determination. This experience served as a foundation for all that Al achieved in life, as he emerged from humble beginnings to become a dedicated husband, supportive father, and successful businessman. As Al expanded his business holdings, he became active in community agencies and civic organizations, articulating his economic perspective and personal integrity in a unique style. Those that knew Al understood that he was a complex man; highly inquisitive but embraced change with caution, a tough negotiator yet extremely generous to family and friends. He loved to shop for clothing and accessories, always searching for the best deals. Al enjoyed the beach and a hot sunny day, but most of all, he cherished his extended family.
He was predeceased by his son, Paul Albert Sabeh; his parents, Joseph and Clementine (nee Harraka) Sabeh; five brothers, George, Michael, Louis, Anthony and Victor; and two sisters, Emily and Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife Laurice (nee Hayek); three daughters, Joann Hynes (John), Patricia D’Amico (Anthony) and Michele Gallopo (Scott); five grandchildren, Jaime (Brett), Scott, Andrew, Nicholas and Matthew; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Avery.
