Andy Jaremenko, 87, of Clifton passed away peacefully in the care of his loving wife on February 25, 2021.
Born in Poltava oblast, Ukraine, Mr. Jaremenko came to the United States in 1950, settling initially in New York City and Passaic, NJ before moving to Clifton in 1976, where he had resided since. Prior to retiring, he had been employed for fifty years as a carpenter by the Northeast Carpenters Union, based in Edison. Mr. Jaremenko was a very faithful Ukrainian Orthodox Christian and a devout member, for many decades, of St. Mary Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Clifton where he was instrumental in numerous carpentry projects for the church. He also was very proud to serve as an altar assistant for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Pantelemon and Natalia Jaremenko, as well as by his sister, Anastasia Szpendyk.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nadia (nee Bilobron) Jaremenko, of Clifton as well as by his cherished extended family.
Visitation will be Saturday from 8:30-9:15am with the Funeral Liturgy to immediately follow at 9:15am at Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Cathedral, 635 Broad Street, Clifton. Interment to follow at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Cemetery, South Bound Brook. Face masks must be worn in church and social distancing guidelines must be adhered to.
