Angela Puleo Obituary

Angela F. Puleo, 92, of Clifton, NJ passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the Villa Marie Claire, Saddle River, NJ.  She was the only child of Tomasino and Nicolena (nee Ruggiero) Fazio. Growing up she lived on Hammond Avenue, in Passaic. She considered this neighborhood a wonderful community of family and friends, rooted in her Sicilian heritage.  She married Domenic B Puleo on April 8, 1956, and moved to Clifton, NJ to raise their three children.

Ang was an avid reader and a history buff, who also indulged in ancient architecture, science fiction and modern medicine. Angela was even well read about the extraterrestrial and had no doubt they were living amongst us. She loved to write, draw, sew, cook, entertain, and travel with her husband. Angela also loved the beach, Italy and Sicily.  She wrote a book about her ancestors, Angela’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by her family.

Angie and Dom loved to dress up, meet friends and go out on the town dancing! Angela always dressed like the lady she was, and Dom always made sure that they had fun and complimented one another to a T. They were extraordinary dancers!

Angie coined the term “Mediterranean Diet.” She rarely indulged in rich Italian food, but we could always count on Sunday gravy, with spaghetti & meatballs. She always had a full candy bowl of chocolates in her home and liked to invite everyone in for “coffee and...”

As a devout Catholic, Angela and had a great devotion to the saints. She placed her highest trust in St. Jude and St. Anthony.  St. Paul’s RC Church, in Clifton, NJ. was her parish before St. Andrew’s in Clifton. She taught Adult Bible Study, ESL (to the children of Clifton), and worked many years in the accounting at Popular Club Plan and Royal Silk.

Angela always dreamed of being a nurse, but frankly, she did not need formal education.  As early as age eleven, Angela nursed her bedridden Grandmother Ruggiero, who was living in their home at that time, and many other family members. The first chance she had after retirement, she took a position working for Dr. Michael Mund, an ophthalmologist in Clifton.

Wise, responsible, kind and extremely thoughtful, Angela was still a force to be reckoned with! This petite Sicilian lady was the matriarch, and she always spoke her mind. She will be missed for so many things, especially her heart, her mind, her humor and her hugs.

Angela was preceded in death by her husband Domenic in 2023. She is survived by her son Robert and his wife Lyn, daughter Donna Puleo and her wife Deborah, and daughter Diane Fiebel and her husband John; three grandchildren Kimberly Pomroy and her husband Steve, Casey Triggs and her husband Ed, and her grandson Kyle Fiebel; and seven precious great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Mason, Leighton, Kendall, Bohdi, Madden and Campbell.

Angela also had many cousins, and friends throughout the years from high school, her churches, her workplaces and the groups she joined after retiring. Most lately were her friends on Chanda Court, the Valley Senior Social Club, and those at St. Andrew’s Church.
