Ann Freda Obituary

Ann M (nee Marchetti) Freda, 96, of East Rutherford, N.J. passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 15, 2024. She was born in 1928 in the small town of Maenza, Italy in the province of Latina.  In 1937, at the age of 9, Ann immigrated to the United States with her family where she embraced her new life in America while holding close the rich traditions of her Italian heritage.  Upon leaving Ellis Island, Ann and her family settled in the Bronx, New York. After graduating high school, Ann became a proficient secretary working for Christian Brothers Wine Corp.  While still living in the Bronx, Ann met and later married Aldo Freda in 1952.  In 1959, they moved to East Rutherford, NJ where they built a beautiful life and raised their family. Before her retirement, Mrs. Freda was employed as a secretary for over 20 years with Flintkote Co. of East Rutherford.

Mrs. Freda was a faithful parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Church in Wallington where she was a deeply committed active volunteer.  She helped on Bingo nights and cooked for the church picnics. She also was a member of the East Rutherford Senior Citizens Club.

An avid reader, Ann found solace and joy in the pages of her favorite books.  She loved knitting, cooking and traveling.  She enjoyed many vacations with her husband Aldo to Europe and the Caribbean Islands. These journeys enriched her life and allowed her to create unforgettable memories with her family and friends.  Ann enjoyed trips to Atlantic City where she loved to play the slot machines.

Mrs. Freda was predeceased by parents Alessandro and Ida Marie Marchetti, her beloved husband, Aldo A. Freda; and her siblings Almina Sperduti and Enzo Marchetti.

Ann is survived by her devoted children, Susan K. Freda, Dr. Aldo A. Freda, Gina Freda-O’Hanna and husband, Rich O’Hanna and her daughter in law Beth Freda; and four grandchildren, Joshua Freda, Jessica Freda-Stellar and her husband, Moritz, Alexa O’Hanna, Lyndsay O’Hanna and many nieces and nephews.

Ann built a strong relationship with her trusted aide Theresa who provided compassionate care and companionship over the past two years.  Ann Freda leaves behind a family who will continue to honor her memory by cherishing the traditions she instilled.  She was a loving and caring person who valued family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
