Anna Majer passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 92 in Passaic, New Jersey. Born on April 20, 1933, in Scheindorf, Romania. Anna was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit and legacy will continue to live on through her extensive and loving family.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Anthony Majer, her sons Anthony P. Majer and Richard Majer, her parents Maria (nee Manz) and Martin Geng, and her sisters Katharina Baumgartner and Elizabeth Meyer, Anna's memory will be cherished by her surviving siblings Mary Hentschel and Barbara Liebfried. She was a devoted mother to her children Annamarie Majer, Edward (Carol) Majer, Stefan Majer, Barbara (Stephen) Majer Williams, Joseph (Darlene) Majer, Martin Majer, and Deborah Majer. Her legacy extends to her adoring grandchildren Anthony and Christopher Majer, Daniel and Christian Majer, Erika (Justin) Schiller, Jessica (Kevin) Maecha, Amanda (Scott) Majer, Vanessa and Angelina Majer, as well as her great-grandchildren Mackenzie Hubbard, Anna Schiller, Laila Sulieman, and Charlotte Maecha. Anna's love also encompassed her grand-dogs Buster, Luke, Coco, and Cooper, who brought her immeasurable joy.
Anna's journey from Romania to the United States in 1951 and settling in Passaic was marked by resilience and determination. After completing her high school education, she embarked on a new chapter as the long-time owner of Tony’s Deli in Passaic Park. Her deli was more than a business; it was a gathering place for the community, where Anna’s warmth and generosity were as much a staple as the food she served.
A lifelong Mets fan, Anna's enthusiasm for the game was infectious. She was also a dedicated caregiver and babysitter for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a role she embraced with open arms and an open heart. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in crochet, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured by her family. Anna’s love for cooking was renowned, especially her chicken noodle soup, which was often said to have the power to heal both body and soul.
Described as loving, kind, and selfless, Anna’s presence was a gift to all. Her selflessness was evident in every aspect of her life, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her kindness was a gentle force that made the world a better place, and her loving nature will be profoundly missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Anna Majer’s life was a tapestry of love, family, and community. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide us. Her memory will be held in our hearts forever, a testament to a life well-lived and a woman dearly loved.
