Anne Marie Lajeskie Obituary

Anne Marie Lajeskie, of Clifton, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025. She was 98. Born and raised in Passaic, Anne Marie attended #9 School and then graduated from Passaic High School. Before retiring, she took incredible pride in her career, including 15 years with the Passaic Valley Sewer Commission, and prior to that, her employment at the Meyer Brothers department store in Paterson. She was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton.

Anne Marie was an animal lover and a natural philanthropist, and she adopted a long list of hobbies throughout her life. She most enjoyed cooking and baking, reading, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, and all kinds of crafts. She loved to listen to music, and would frequently sing along to Frank Sinatra. She adored celebrating the holidays and would often host gatherings in her home.

Even more than her hobbies and her career, Anne Marie cherished her family. She was affectionately known as “Annie” or “Gram” to her many grandchildren. She always celebrated all of their successes and, until she was no longer able to travel, never missed an important milestone.

Anne Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Lajeskie (2009); two daughters, Patricia Zorn and Janet Schmittauer; and her siblings, Lillian, Andrew, Steven, Ernest, and Michael & John.

Survivors include: her two sons and their wives, Charles & Debbie Lajeskie, and Steven & Julie Lajeskie; two sons-in-law, Joseph Zorn and Robert Schmittauer; one sister-in-law, Frances Scerbak; eight grandchildren, David Zorn, Lauren Fisher, Carrie Conklin, Corleigh McDermond, Christine Schmittauer, Ashton Varner, Matthew Lajeskie, and Jules Lajeskie; six great-grandchildren: Tyler Conklin; Shaw, Ryan Michael, & Callan James McDermond; Adelaide & Ansen Varner; and many nieces and nephews.

Anne Marie will be lovingly remembered by family, friends and former colleagues for her unwavering kindness, her laugh, her resilience, her sarcastic sense of humor, and her innate ability to make everyone feel welcome.
