Anselma Torres, 96, of Clifton, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Anselma came to the United States on February 13, 1972, and settled in New York City, where she lived for many years. She then resided in Union City before moving to Clifton 35 years ago.
Before retirement, she was employed with Power Mate Co. in Hackensack. Previously, she was a seamstress in New York City. She was a headstrong, hardworking, dedicated mother, sister, and friend.
Anselma was predeceased by her son, Andres Genao and her sister, Celia Torres.
Survivors include her devoted daughter, Eduvigis Genao; three grandchildren, Elijah Ortiz, Marcos Deveaux, and Andrea Genao; and four great-grandchildren, Danny, Lucia, Victoria, and Kevin Deveaux.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. The funeral service will be held Monday morning at 10:30 am at the funeral home, followed by burial at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Clifton.
