Antonio Volonnino, 83, of Clifton, passed away May 28, 2024. Born in Venosa, Italy, Mr. Volonnino emigrated first to Sao Paolo, Brazil for six years and then to the United States at the age of 19. He settled in Passaic before moving to Clifton 46 years ago. Before retirement, Tony was employed for 51 years with Atlas Industrial Manufacturing Co. in Clifton where he worked as a machinist.
Tony was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton where he was a proud and active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #11671 and the Knights of Columbus Msgr. Stein Assembly Fourth Degree.
Tony always had the biggest smile when spending time with his family and friends. He loved playing cards, especially poker with one-eyed jacks wild, and was an avid bowler. He enjoyed gardening and cooking. Friends and family came from near and far for his delicious pizza! He could also be heard singing and seen dancing to Italian music which kept his culture alive within his family. Tony was a big presence to anyone who met him. He greeted everyone with arms wide open and a smile. He will be dearly missed.
He was predeceased by one son, Anthony Volonnino; his son-in-law, Francis Boccabella III; three brothers, Raffaele, Michele and Rocco Volonnino; and two sisters, Lucia Chiarella and Angelina DiChirico.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Marianne (nee D’Ettorre); his children, Robert Volonnino and his wife, Geraldine, Frank Volonnino and his wife Jacqueline, Michael Volonnino and his wife Rachel Rumely and Julie Boccabella; one brother, Giuseppe Volonnino; one sister, Anna DeSouza; and six grandchildren, Anthony, Joseph, Gabriella, Robert Joseph, Lauren and Frank Anthony Volonnino as well as lots of extended family and friends that became family.
