Arlene P. (nee Keszegi) Clavin, 88, of Manchester, NJ, passed away Friday May, 12, 2023. Born in Passaic, Mrs. Clavin resided in Clifton for most of her life before retiring to the Renaissance at Manchester Community 19 years ago. She was a member of the Renaissance at Manchester Performing Arts Group and various other clubs. She loved to sing and perform in their community shows.
Arlene was a parishioner of St. Luke R.C. Church in Toms River and a former parishioner of St. Clare R.C. Church in Clifton, St. Brendan R.C. Church in Clifton and St. Mary R.C. Church in Passaic. She was also a former member of the Red Hat Society.
Prior to her retirement Arlene was employed by the Passaic County Board of Social Services for 26 years, as a social worker. Prior to that, Arlene also spent some time as a high school teacher of English and Dramatics. Some of you may also have known Arlene when she was a nurse in training. A common thread being her empathetic and giving nature.
Survivors include: her two devoted children, Lorcan J. Clavin and his significant other, Deborah and Coleen A. Deuerlein and her ex-husband, Mark; four grandchildren, Nicolas J. (Niko) Merritt and his wife Brianna, Racquel N. Garcia and her husband Hector, Dylan J. Merritt and Madison D. Deuerlein; one “step” grandchild, Jamie; one great-grandchild, Gianni Garcia and several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was predeceased by ex-husband Lawrence J. Clavin and her siblings, Lois and William.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 at 9:15 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at St. Mary R.C. Church, 63 Monroe Street, Passaic. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Saddle Brook. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local church for a Mass offering.
