Barbara A. (Bush) Griffith

Barbara A. (nee Bush) Griffith, 94, of Clifton, passed away Saturday, September 21st, 2024.  

Born in Passaic, Barbara was a lifelong Clifton resident.  In her younger days she collected coins, loved taking bus trips to New York City, visited often the Jersey Shore and, one of her favorite hobbies was to shop at Macy’s Department Store.  Before retirement, she was employed as a bank teller with PNC Bank and previously with Midlantic Bank, both of Clifton.  

Barbara was a longtime faithful parishioner of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Clifton for over 90 years.  She completed all her Sacraments at St. Paul’s: Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation and Matrimony. She attended and graduated from St. Paul’s School and went to Clifton High School. Barbara was an active member of St. Paul’s Leisure Club where she enjoyed playing Bingo.   She was also a member of the Rosary Society where she served as Treasurer.  Barbara selflessly shared her talents with St. Paul’s Family Community, and her generosity has been a great blessing for the Parish Community.  She was known in the Spanish Community as “Barbarita”, and she loved joining the Spanish Community at the annual New Year’s Eve Party.  Barbara did not like any celebration for her Birthday, yet she made sure to let everyone know it was her birthday.  

There has never been a time in which a favor has been asked of her that she refused.  On the contrary, her availability and her generosity went beyond what is normal for the sake of making sure that God was loved and served in any Parish activity.  Her participation provided the necessary means for members of our Parish to grow in their relationship with God our Father, Jesus Christ our Lord and our Blessed Mother Mary.  Barbara loved and had the upmost respect for those in the Priesthood, having a special connection and dear relationship with Rev. Leonardo Jaramillo, Pastor at St. Paul’s, whom she truly loved as if he were her own son.  Barbara has given of herself with sacrifice and humble service and will be greatly missed in her Parish Community.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Archie N. Griffith in 2004 and her son, Gregory Scott Griffith in 1999.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4:30 to 8:30 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 am at St. Paul R.C. Church, 124 Union Avenue, Clifton.  Please meet at church.  Interment to follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul R.C.
