Carmela (nee Giordano) Cannizzaro, 95, of Clifton passed away peacefully in the comfort of having her family by her bedside on Thursday February 5th, 2026.
Born and raised in Geraci Siculo, Italy, Mrs. Cannizzaro came to the United States on Thanksgiving Day 1955, settling in Passaic upon her arrival and resided there until 1980 when she and her family then moved to Clifton. She had been employed as a seamstress for many years but her true role in life was that of being a wife, mother and grandmother as her family meant everything to her. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle RC Church in Clifton and enjoyed sewing and gardening, planting flowers and vegetables, and loved cooking…her grandchildren always said nothing could compare to “Grandma Food” and those meals will be forever missed.
Mrs. Cannizzaro was predeceased by her beloved husband, Agostino Cannizzaro who passed away July 15th, 2006; by a loved and missed son, Vincenzo “Jimmy” Cannizzaro on November 21st, 2019 as well as by her dear siblings in Italy.
She is survived by two loving and devoted children: Larry Cannizzaro and his wife, Fanny, of Wellington, FL and Josephine Alessi and her husband, Gabriele, of Wayne and by her two cherished grandchildren: Gabriel J. (Gabe) Alessi and Maria K. Alessi.
Visitation will be held at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton on Monday February 9th from 10:00am-12:00pm with funeral to then commence at 12:00pm with the opening prayer followed by mass at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton at 12:30pm.
