Carmelina (nee DiGesu) LoConte, 83, of Clifton, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Born in Mussomeli, Sicily, Mrs. LoConte came to the United States in May of 1966 and settled in Passaic. She has resided in Clifton since 1994. Before her retirement, Mrs. LoConte was employed as a seamstress with Levine Co. of Clifton for many years. Mrs. LoConte loved to knit and was known to enjoy attending Tricky Tray fundraisers.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Giovanni LoConte in 2018 and her daughter, Nina Sienkiewicz.
Survivors include: three children, Fran Wetzel and her husband Dennis of Point Pleasant, NJ, Enza Paranto and her husband, Tom of North Carolina and Joseph LoConte and his wife, Reina of Andover, NJ; her son-in-law, Daniel Sienkiewicz; her siblings, Josephine DiSiena and her husband, Joe of Manahawkin, NJ, Rita DiGesu, Giannina DiGesu, Enza Nicosia, Totuccio DiGesu and Peppe DiGesu, all of Sicily and Matteo DiGesu of Italy; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:15 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton.
