Charles Paul “Chuck” Weiss, 78, of Clifton, NJ, passed away on May 20, 2025, and is now at peace after facing a long and challenging illness.
Born and raised in Paterson, Chuck had lived in Haledon and then Lodi and ultimately made his home in Clifton for the past twenty-five years. He was a graduate of Seton Hall University and had been employed early on with the Nabisco bakery and distribution center, formerly located in Fair Lawn, and then as a Collections Manager with the Firestone Corporation. He spent the majority of his career as a Produce Clerk with Pathmark Supermarket, formerly in Hackensack. A very proud veteran of the United States Army, Chuck served with the 1st Calvary Division in the Vietnam War and during his service, was exposed to the toxin Agent Orange which led to the (federally recognized) presumptive condition of Parkinson’s Disease, an illness Chuck struggled through for the past several years. He was a member of VFW Allwood Memorial Post 6487, formerly located in Clifton, and since that Post shuttered its doors, he became a member of VFW Post 3484 in Saddle Brook.
Chuck could often be found gardening at his home and his signature botanical displays remain, seen even today in both the front of and behind his home. For years, he enjoyed long walks with his treasured rescue dog, Buddy.
Mr. Weiss is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-three years, Mary Jane (nee Shaw) Weiss, of Clifton; by his two children: Charles Michael Weiss of Ho-Ho-Kus and Jacquelyn Molina of Riveredge; two siblings: Eric Weiss and Holly Weiss; and by his two grandchildren: Vincent and Isabella (Bella) Molina.
