Charles E. Wood, 80, of Woodland Park, formerly of Short Hills, passed away on Friday January 20, 2023 in the loving care of his wife of fifty-four years.
Born in Orange, Mr. Wood was raised in East Orange and had lived in Short Hills for forty-three years before moving to Woodland Park in 2015. Prior to retirement, he had been employed throughout his career as a Municipal Bond Trader, most notably with Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P. in New York City amongst a number of other firms. In his spare time, Charlie was an avid gardener and found great peace and took immense pride in tending to his private garden behind his Short Hills home.
Mr. Wood was predeceased by his cherished and dearly missed daughter, Jennifer Lee Wood, who passed away in 1981 as well as by his loved parents: Edwin and Evelyn (nee Baruth) Wood.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Nancy (nee Ryan) Wood, of Woodland Park; his devoted son, Christopher Wood, of Westport, CT; his treasured grandson, Henry Charles Wood; his dear sister, Barbara George, of Convent Station; and by his many loved nieces and nephews.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday January 28th from 2-4pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton with a Memorial Service to be held during the visitation at an unspecified time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Usher 1F Collaborative (www.usher1f.org), 321 Walnut Street, Newtonville, MA 02460-1927 to help fund medical research to find an effective treatment to save or restore the vision of those with Usher Syndrome type 1F would be preferred and appreciated.
