Darlene Peterson Obituary

Darlene A. Peterson, known lovingly as Darlene, age 63, passed away on April 1, 2026, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, New Jersey. She was born on August 11, 1962, at West Essex General Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey, and lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and quiet strength. She was a deeply Christian woman whose gentle spirit, loving heart, and kind nature touched all who knew her.

Darlene was the beloved wife of Donald J. Peterson. Together, they shared a life built on love, Christian faith, and family. She was a devoted mother to Kyle J. Peterson and his wife, Anna O. Peterson, and to Anna A. Link and her husband, Brenden Link. She was also deeply cherished by her grandchildren, Longin K. Peterson, Cornelia D.P. Peterson, Aseneth V.R. Peterson, Gideon D.O. Peterson, Phinehas H. I. Peterson, and Charles O. Link. Her family was one of her greatest joys, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel (née Pentland) Senko. Darlene also leaves behind her brother, Thomas Senko, and his wife, Shelia, and her brother John Senko. Her family will remember her as a steady presence, a source of encouragement, and a woman whose love was expressed in both word and deed. She carried herself with grace and humility, and her life reflected the values she held dear.

Darlene grew up in East Hanover, NJ, where she attended East Hanover High School and later studied at The State University of New York, SUNY, Purchase Campus, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She was a lifelong learner who valued education and used her gifts with diligence and care. She worked as a Technical Writer at Mercury Systems in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, and other places. She was especially grateful to have worked alongside her son, Kyle. Her professionalism, intelligence, and attention to detail were matched by her kindness and willingness to help others.

In her younger years, Darlene played the clarinet in high school, and music remained one of the many ways she appreciated the beauty of life. Most recently, she and her husband Don enjoyed singing in their local Russian Orthodox church choir. She also loved reading and writing, and she found joy in travel and in spending time with her grandchildren. These simple pleasures brought her happiness, and she embraced them with gratitude. She had a thoughtful mind and a tender heart, and she found meaning in both quiet moments and shared experiences.

Those who knew Darlene will remember her as gentle, loving, and kind. She had a calm and reassuring presence that brought comfort to others. Her life was a testimony to faithfulness, family devotion, and the strength that comes from trusting in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She faced life with dignity and compassion, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to bless her family for generations.
