Dolores G. (Passaretti) Burns

Dolores Burns née Passaretti passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024, at the age of 92, with her adoring family by her side.

The proud daughter of Italian immigrants, Dolores was born to Aurelia (Bonsignore) Passaretti and Anthony Passaretti on August 16, 1931, in Lodi, New Jersey. It was at Lodi High School where she met her future husband, Harry P. Burns, Jr. Harry, never having met Dolores, tapped her on the shoulder and invited her to the prom. Dolores was 15 and Harry was 17. They were lifelong companions and partners until his passing in 2012.

While Harry served in the Navy, Dolores worked as an executive secretary at the Bendix Corporation for five years. After Harry’s discharge, the two entered the restaurant field, opening Burns Steakhouse and the Burns Country Inn, where her charm, poise, and intelligence played a large part in the business’s success and longevity. Burns Country Inn, under the direction of Harry and Dolores, was not only a fixture in the Clifton community for thirty years but a Tri-state institution where families would travel to enjoy long lunches, celebrate holidays, and dance on Saturday nights. 

Surviving Dolores are her five devoted sons and their spouses: Patrick and Joy, Colin and Janet, Mark and Lisa, Brendan and Elizabeth, Kyle and Vanessa; nine grandchildren: Colin Jr., Brielle, Christian, Cameron, Stefen, Nora, Eva, Sebastian. and Astrid; great-grandchildren: Piper, Aurelia, Vivian, and Emma; and her sisters: Jeanette Casiello and Anna Patrisso. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years.
