Donald Murko Obituary

Donald Murko, 94, of Woodland Park, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on September 8, 2025. He was born in Garfield, NJ in June 1931 to Michael Murko and Mae Jaretsky Murko. Donald lived in Saddle Brook (formerly Saddle River Township) prior to moving to Garfield following his marriage to Joan Gordon, of Garfield, in November 1959. He remained a Saddle Brook kid his entire life. The couple have been residents of West Paterson/Woodland Park since September 1969. Don worked at Murko Printing Service of Saddle Brook and Elmwood Park, a business established by his late father, until his retirement in 1994.

 

With his wife Joan he was an active member of the Garden State All Terrier Club; they bred and showed champion Wire Fox Terriers for many years. The enjoyed their annual visit to Boothbay Harbor, Maine for more than 45 years and other motor trips within the United States. He was known to be fiercely loyal to family and friends (and the NY Mets) and will be remembered for his love of good food, especially Eastern European cuisine.

 

Donald was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mae Murko, his brother Raymond Murko, and his beloved brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Gordon and sister-in-law Mickey Gordon. He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Joan Gordon Murko, his nieces Pamela Gordon Mileski and her husband Kenneth and their children Kyle and Natalie Mileski; Sandra Gordon Lifschin and her husband Bryan and daughter Alayna Lifschin; Sharon Gordon and her children Matthew and Emily Azzolino; and many cousins, relatives through marriage, and dear friends.

 

At the request of Donald cremation will be private. A memorial visitation at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07013 will be held on Saturday October 11th from 1-3pm.
