Edmund Edward Devlin, 85, of Clifton, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on October 8, 2020.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Mr. Devlin moved to North Arlington when he was twenty-one and lived there until marrying the love of his life, the former Kathleen Cummins, when they then moved to Clifton and resided for the past fifty-three years. Prior to retirement, he had been employed as a Senior Account Executive with Moore Business Forms for thirty-five years. In retirement, Ed served as a Funeral Assistant for many years with Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Homes in Clifton. He was an active parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church in Clifton for fifty-three years including being one of the original Eucharistic Ministers in the Diocese of Paterson, serving as a CCD teacher at St. Andrew’s School for many years, contributing to the parish as an usher and during his retirement years, volunteering in the school library. Mr. Devlin also served as Treasurer of the 39ers Club and belonged to the Deriters Club in Clifton.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edmund and Josephine (nee Cunningham) Devlin; by his brothers: Terence, John, Peter and Timothy and by two sisters: Joan Devlin and Aileen Sorensen.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Kathleen (nee Cummins) Devlin, of Clifton; by his two devoted and loved daughters, Kathleen Devlin of Basking Ridge and Ellen Devlin Sample and her husband, Jason, of Pelham, NY; two adored grandchildren: Morgan and Michael; his dear sister Patricia Blackford and her husband, Roger; loved sisters-in-law Margaret Devlin, Marilyn Devlin, Barbara Gallagher and brother-in-law Dr. Michael Cummins; and sixteen cherished nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be offered on Tuesday at 9:30 am at St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church, 400 Mt. Prospect Avenue, Clifton. Please meet at church. It is courteously requested that masks be worn and social distancing be observed for the mass. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Eva’s Kitchen (www.evasvillage.org), 393 Main Street, Paterson, NJ 07501 would be preferred and appreciated.
