Elisabeth Angeli, a beloved matriarch and a beacon of love and creativity, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, in Clifton, NJ, at the age of 82. Born on November 19, 1942, in the picturesque region of Transylvania, Hungary. She came to United States in 1952 settling in Passaic before moving to Clifton in 1967 where she has resided since.
Elisabeth was the cherished wife of the late Lambert Angeli, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and an unbreakable bond. Together, they built a family that became her pride and joy. She was the loving mother of Frank Angeli, Rose Klingler, and Barbara McKenzie, who, along with their spouses, Frederick McKenzie and the late Robert D. Klingler, gave her the gift of being a grandmother to Robert C. Klingler, Heather L. Hartland, Jason B. Hartland, William R. McKenzie, Elisabeth M. McKenzie, and Brittany Downes.
Elisabeth's brother Adolf Schimpf, his wife Hilde, and her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren, also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Rosalia (nee Gieger) Schimpf, and her brothers, Michael and Felix Schimpf. Each family member held a special place in her heart, and she nurtured these relationships with the same tenderness and care she applied to her many hobbies.
Though Elisabeth’s formal education concluded with some high school, she was a lifelong learner, constantly absorbing knowledge from the world around her. As a homemaker, she poured her soul into creating a warm and inviting home where all were welcome. Her Christian faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and providing solace through life's challenges.
Elisabeth's creative spirit shone brightly in her drawings, with facial portraits being a particular passion. She had a remarkable talent for capturing the essence of a person's character on paper. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in crocheting and embroidering, creating beautiful pieces that served as expressions of her love. Additionally, Elisabeth was a phenomenal cook, delighting in the preparation of meals for her family, which were always served with a generous side of warmth and storytelling. Elisabeth was a member of the Clifton Art Association and a faith full parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, Clifton.
Described by those who knew her as loving, kind, and creative, Elisabeth lived a life that embodied these qualities to the fullest. Her gentle spirit and nurturing presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Elisabeth Angeli's legacy is one of unconditional love, artistic passion, and unwavering faith. As we bid her farewell, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were graced by her kindness and creativity. Rest in peace, dear Elisabeth, until we meet again.
