Elizabeth J. (Shea) Velez

Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Velez (nee Shea) passed away on January 14, 2026 surrounded by her family.  She leaves behind her husband Charlie, her four children and daughter-in-laws, Michael & Kristen, Crystal, Joseph & Laura and Manuel & Magda and her ten grandchildren: Larissa, Eric, Jayden, Valentina, Connor, Leah, Dylan, Jack, Romeo and Lily.  She was deeply loved by so many—her six siblings, her many cousins, and the friends who became family. Liz found her greatest happiness in simply being together with the people she loved, and her presence filled every room. She will be forever missed and always remembered in our hearts.

Liz was born on March 23, 1962 in Passaic, New Jersey. Though she was raised in Clifton, Garfield was the place she ultimately called home.  When she wasn’t with her family, she could be found at the beach with her best friend of 50 years, Fran or shopping for an upcoming holiday.  She also greatly enjoyed visiting her beloved “BFF in South Jersey,” Antionette.  Liz poured her whole heart into everything she did, whether it was cooking for her family or sharing a lively game night.

A wake will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 12:00 - 4:00 at
