Elvira Maldonado, 78, of Clifton, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022. Born in Panama, Ms. Maldonado came to the United States in 1968 and settled in Paterson. She resided in Passaic County for many years and moved to Clifton four years ago. Before her retirement, Ms. Maldonado was employed as a Patient Care Facilitator and Translator in the Emergency Room at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center where she was employed for almost 40 years.
Ms. Maldonado was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton and enjoyed various activities and hobbies such as reading, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Margarita Jarkowsky and her husband, Paul; and her two grandchildren, who were her joy, Noah and Maya Jarkowsky. Maya and Noah brought her much love and happiness and always brought a smile to her face. She was their beloved “MITA”. She is survived by her sisters Yolanda M. Giovannetti, Doris Rivera, Dalia Sanchez, Argelia Sanchez, her brother Leandro Sanchez, nieces and nephews and adored great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters Marina Santiago, Herminia Sanchez and her brother, Manuel Moran.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Friday 9:15 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
