Emil Murcko

Emil Murcko, 76, of Garfield, passed away April 26, 2023. Born in Garfield, Emil was a lifelong resident, graduating from Garfield High School in 1966.  Emil had a deep love for music that included Rockin’ Roll, Doowop, Country and Polkas. Bob Dylan was one of his favorites.  Emil enjoyed playing his guitar and singing until an accident caused him to lose the dexterity of his fingers. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed trips to the Catskills and the Jersey Shore.

Emil retired from his landscaping business in 2015. He then sold his home and moved into Golden Tower complex in Garfield where he enjoyed his new neighbors including his very helpful friend, Jean, and the Golden Tower staff. Emil loved and cherished his family. For many years, he took care of his aging parents.

Emil was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Catherine (nee Pistey) Murcko; two brothers, Daniel and John; one sister, Anne Simpson; and one great-nephew, Chris Fecko.

Survivors include: sister, Helen Greer; brother, Peter; sister-in-law, Peggy Murcko; many nieces and nephews, David Fecko, Ken Fecko (Demie), Jason Murcko (Sona), Alesha Forner, Jeff Murcko (Lisa), Kristen DeCapua (John), Cindy Lana (Mel), John Ozimek and Paul Ozimek; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Angelica, Kelly, Owen, Ella, Johnny, Mel, Jr., Melissa and Kelly Buttery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave, Clifton immediately followed by the service at 7:30 pm. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 285 French Hill Road, Wayne, NJ 07470.
