Emoke Barbara Kovacs, 85, of Clifton, passed away on October 27, 2024. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Mrs. Kovacs came to the United States at the age of 12 and settled with her family in Passaic. She lived in the Passaic area for most of her life and settled in Clifton for 27 years. She was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Clifton and St. Stephen Magyar R.C. Church in Passaic. Mrs. Kovacs was a member of the Hungarian Scouts, Garfield Chapter.
Mrs. Kovacs was a great cook and she especially enjoyed baking. She was an avid reader, was very religious and was a wonderful mother figure to all who knew her.
She was predeceased by two sons, Julius Kovacs, Jr. and Attila Kovacs.
Survivors include: her beloved husband of 66 years, Julius Kovacs; her devoted son, Zsolt Victor Kovacs and his wife, Krista; five grandchildren, Amanda Laber, Gabriel Kovacs, Veronica Kovacs, Zachary Kovacs and Emily Kovacs; and one great-granddaughter, Octavia Laber.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, 145 Randolph Avenue @ Clifton Avenue, Clifton. Please meet at church. Inurnment of ashes to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Avenue, Clifton. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Sacred Heart R.C.
