Ernest Schmidig

Ernest W. Schmidig, 87, of Clifton, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020. Born in Clifton, he was a lifelong resident. Before his retirement, Mr. Schmidig was employed as a mold maker in the Howmedica division of Pfizer Corp. in East Rutherford. Mr. Schmidig was a member of the Little Falls Masonic Lodge #154 where he served as Past Master in 1976 and 1979.

            Mr. Schmidig was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force having served from 1952 to 1956.

            He was predeceased by his brother, Walter Schmidig and two sisters, Elsbeth Tater and Doris Runion.

            Survivors include: his beloved wife, Arlene (nee McDonald) Schmidig; four children, Daniel Schmidig and his wife, Jody, Ernest Schmidig, William Schmidig and Dorothy Fensterstock and her husband, Martin; and two grandchildren, Nicole Montague and Alyssa Fensterstock.

            Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
