Ethel L. (nee Miller) Henderson, 97, of Woodland Park, New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at home. Born in Montclair, Mrs. Henderson was a longtime resident of Woodland Park. She was a graduate of Montclair State University. Before her retirement, she had been employed as a teacher in the Woodland Park School System, where she was voted Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Henderson was a member of the Montclair Unitarian Church for many years and was a member of the World Trade Club. She travelled extensively with her late, husband, Henry Henderson, who was appointed by Gov. Thomas Kean as a Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Some of their travels included excursions to Japan, Sweden, China, Brazil, England, Cuba and Russia.
Mrs. Henderson was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Henry F. Henderson in 2018; one son, David Henderson; and three brothers, Claude, Don and Went Miller.
She is survived by: three children, Kathy Carter, Beth LaFountain and her husband, Fred and Ken Henderson and his wife, Eileen; six grandchildren, Evan Carter, Erika Carter, Brian Henderson, Marshall Henderson, Melissa LaFountain and Danielle Steinert and her husband, Eric.
Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Please visit www.bizubquinlan.com to leave condolences to the family on the Tribute Wall section of the obituary.
