Frances "Fran" Kobernick, a beacon of kindness and faith, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 89 in West Orange, New Jersey. Born on January 31, 1937, in Plains Twp., Pennsylvania, Fran was the cherished daughter of the late Chester and Bernadine Pivinski. She grew up in a loving family alongside her siblings, the late Leon Pivinski, Chester Pivinski, and Rose Stepien.
Fran's early years were spent in Garfield, New Jersey, where she attended Pope Pius High School in Passaic. She made her home in Clifton, New Jersey, where raised her family and lived most of her life before moving to West Orange. Fran's commitment to her community was evident through her 23 years of dedicated service at Preakness Healthcare Center in Wayne, where she worked until her retirement.
A devout Catholic, Fran was a long-standing parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton. Her faith was an integral part of her life, as she actively participated in the Rosary Society, the Columbiettes, and the Prime Timers. Fran's service to her church extended to her role as a Eucharistic Minister, a position she held with great honor and reverence.
Fran's involvement in her community did not stop at the church doors. She was a proud member of the Valley Seniors, the Red Hat Society, and the Sisters of the Presentation. Her social engagements with these groups brought her much joy and allowed her to form lasting friendships.
Family was the cornerstone of Fran's life. She was a loving mother to her sons, James Kobernick and his wife Susan, Gary Kobernick and his wife Nicole, and the late John Kobernick. Fran was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arnold Kobernick, with whom she shared many cherished memories. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Jon Kobernick, Brandon Kobernick, Jennifer Pagano and her husband James, Justin Kobernick, and Lauren Kobernick, and her treasured great-grandchild, Christian Pagano.
Fran will be remembered as a faith-filled and kind soul, whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. Her unwavering faith, compassionate spirit, and the love she had for her family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
As we bid farewell to Frances Kobernick, we celebrate a life lived with grace and devotion. Her memory will forever be a guiding light to those she leaves behind. Fran's life was a testament to the power of faith, the beauty of friendship, and the enduring strength of family bonds. May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire for generations to come.
