Frank Nakonechny, 88, of Lyndhurst passed away on June 20, 2020.
Born in Passaic, Mr. Nakonechny was raised in Garfield and had lived in Lyndhurst for over forty years. Prior to retiring, he had been employed as a Dispatcher with St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. before their closure. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War-era and was a faithful parishioner of Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Cathedral in Clifton. He was a longtime member of VFW Post 2867 Benda-Roehrich Post in Garfield.
Mr. Nakonechny was predeceased by three brothers: John, Andrew and Michael Nakonechny and two sisters: Emily Nakonechny and Helen Zidiak.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maryann (nee Carig) Nakonechny, of Lyndhurst; his two devoted sons: John Nakonechny of Lyndhurst and Michael Nakonechny and his wife, Lori, of Toms River; two cherished grandchildren: Michael and Delaney Nakonechny; dear brother William Nakonechny of Florida; and two loved sisters: Anne Sobel of Stanhope, NJ and Olga Mondragon of Alabama.
Visiting will be Friday morning from 9:00am-9:45am at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton with a Funeral Mass to immediately follow at 10:00am at Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Cathedral, 635 Broad Street, Clifton 07013. Interment to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Cathedral either at the address above or at www.ukrcoc.org would be appreciated.
