FRANK J. NOSTRAME, Esq., passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025. Born on July 5, 1938, in Jersey City, NJ to loving parents, Anna Marie and Francesco Nostrame. Frank was raised and worked most of his life in Jersey City, NJ, residing in Clifton, NJ for the last 18 years with his devoted wife, Linda Finnegan.
Frank graduated in 1956 from Xavier High School, a military school in NYC, then served in the U.S. Army working as a mechanic on Sikorsky helicopters. After his military service, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, wrestled on the university team, and earned a degree in electrical engineering in 1965. After college, he began his professional career as an engineer at Con Edison, and while working full time, he attended St. John’s University School of Law at night. After earning his law degree in 1969, Frank transitioned from engineering to law in Con Ed’s litigation department.
In 1975, he left NYC to open his own law practice in Jersey City, which he maintained for the next 47 years. A passionate attorney, Frank enjoyed the challenges and opportunities brought by each new case. He had a profound appreciation for the principles of justice and equality that his profession sought to achieve. He never wanted to retire.
Frank had a wide range of interests including handball, golf, cooking, fitness programs, photography, landscaping, as well as a lifelong passion for learning, especially history, science and languages. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends, hosting countless celebrations and family gatherings, especially the annual Christmas party which became a cherished tradition.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Finnegan, and a large loving family including his daughters, Catherine Nostrame (Sidney Schupak), Maggie Martinek (Gary), and Jennifer Nostrame (Felipe Gonzalez), his stepdaughters, Erin Perron (Eric) and Meghan Finnegan, his grandchildren, Jessica Cakmakli (Guney), Krystina Antis (Bobby), Alex Schupak, Jordan Schupak, Mina Gonzalez, Leila Gonzalez, his great-grandchildren, Kyler Cakmakli, Brayden Cakmakli, Landon Cakmakli, and Sophia Antis, his step-grandchildren, Colin Haskoor, Aiden Haskoor, Logan Perron, Riley Perron, and Kevin Perron, his siblings Robert Nostrame (Carlisle), Gene Nostrame (Juanita), Jack Nostrame (Dee), Joe Nostrame, Susan Nostrame, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, all who will remember him fondly for his generosity, kindness and dedication to his family.
Frank’s life was a testament to the importance of family, education, lifelong curiosity and following your passions in life. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the memories of those who knew him.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 at 10:45 am from the funeral home followed by an 11:30 am Mass at St. Philip the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Private cremation to follow. Repast to follow at Bella Napoli, 1640 Broad St, Bloomfield, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
