Gary R. Saharig

Gary R. Saharig, 70, of New York, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday January 26th, 2024. ​Born in Trujillo, Peru, Mr. Saharig was raised there and then in Lima before coming to the United States in November of 1988, living in the Passaic-Clifton area initially, and for the later part of his life resided in Harlem, NY. He had been employed as an architect when he lived in Peru. He was an avid soccer fan, had a lifelong interest in reading and math, LOVED his seafood, especially when prepared Peruvian-style, was a passionate fan of the Indiana Jones movie series and enjoyed the Harry Potter series as well. ​Mr. Saharig was predeceased by his parents, Carlos Saharig and Maria Espinel and by four brothers: Alejandro Saharig, Carlos Saharig, Luis Novoa and Victor Saharig. ​

He is survived by his loving partner and 2nd wife, Maria Alexandra Minaya, of New York, NY; and their son Robert Saharig of Reading, PA; his 1st wife, Olinda (nee Soto) Saharig, of Clifton, their two children Shirley Saharig of Charlotte, NC, Jou-Bryan Saharig of Clifton; and ten dear siblings: Carmen Obregon, Robert Saharig, Violeta Rios, Grace Castaneda, Anna Saharig, Hilda Meza, Rudy Saharig, Raul Saharig, Gina Saharig and Fabiola Saharig.

​Visiting will be Thursday from 4-8pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton.
