George Bazo, a cherished soul known for his boundless generosity and kindness, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, in Woodland Park, New Jersey at the age of 73. Born on June 1, 1952, in the historic city of Aleppo, Syria, George's journey led him to a life rich with love, family, and service.
George's early years in Syria were marked by dedication and service as he spent five years in the Syrian Army. In 1978, with dreams of a brighter future, he embarked on a new chapter in the United States. It was in New Jersey, that George laid down roots and established a life that would touch many.
He met and married the love of his life, Mae (nee Kouefati) Bazo, and together they raised a family that was the center of George's world. Their children, Andre and his wife Rachel, Melissa and her partner Chad Kinney, and Michael and his wife Dana, were a source of immense pride and joy. George's role as Jiddo to his grandchildren, Makayla, Liliana, George, and Joseph, was one he cherished with all his heart.
George's sisters, Mariette, Mona, Evette, Nadia, and his brother Michael, along with many in-laws, nieces, and nephews, were an integral part of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Hikmat Bazo, and mother, Mary (nee Nasra), whose memories he held dear.
Professionally, George was a stalwart figure at St. Joseph's University Medical Center, where he served in the Maintenance Department as a Painter for 45 years. Affectionately known as "George the Painter," he was a fixture in the community, always ready to lend a helping hand with a smile that could light up a room.
George's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his existence, guiding his actions and his unwavering commitment to helping others. His life was a testament to the values he held dear: generosity, love, and kindness. He was a man who not only preached these virtues but lived them every day, touching the lives of all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to George, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him. George Bazo's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his beloved family, friends, and all the lives he touched with his warm smile and generous spirit.
