George Veliky Obituary

George J. Veliky, a cherished pillar of his community and beloved family man, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 10, 2026, in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Born on December 2, 1940, in Passaic, New Jersey, George's life was a testament to his loving, selfless, and faith-filled nature.

George grew up in Garfield, New Jersey, and after earning his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he became a respected business owner. For 40 years, he was at the helm of J & P Machine and Tool in Clifton, demonstrating not only his expertise in his field but also his commitment to his work and employees. George's professional legacy is marked by the countless contributions he made to the industry and the strong relationships he built with those around him.

In 1964, George settled in Elmwood Park, where he would spend the rest of his life surrounded by family and  friends. He was a lifelong and faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Assumption R.C. Church in Passaic. His dedication to the church was evident in his active involvement in various church activities, including the annual Communion Breakfast, weekly Bingo, serving on the church board, and volunteering at St. Mary’s School. George's selfless volunteering and unwavering faith were sources of inspiration to many.

George and his wife, Mary Ann, loved to travel and see the world. They were fortunate to be able to see many places through their extensive cruising. When Mary Ann was diagnosed with dementia, George became her primary caregiver. All who came in contact with them were amazed by the dedication and loving care George provided to Mary Ann each and every day through the middle of January. His concern remained focused on his beloved wife until his last breath.

George's heart was always fullest when he was with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann (nee Miklovic) Veliky; his children, Michael Veliky and wife Jackie, Ann Marie Muttel and husband Scott, and George Veliky and wife Alison; and his adored grandchildren, Sean, Jake and wife Karina, Paulina, Erin, Jason, Kaylie, Megan, Mae, and Noah; his brothers-in-law, Bill Miklovic and wife Daphne, Joseph Miklovic and wife Monica, sister-in-law, Phyllis Veliky, and many nieces and nephews. George was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather, whose guidance and affection will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by his parents, George and Theresa (nee Duda) Veliky, brother, Stephen and wife Madge, and brother, John Veliky, George's legacy of love and kindness lives on through his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a beautiful reflection of his faith and the values he held dear, and his memory will continue to be a beacon of light for his loved ones.

George's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will forever be cherished and remembered. As we say goodbye to George J. Veliky, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, generosity, and faith. May he rest in peace, knowing that his impact on the world will not be forgotten.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge all of the caregivers (past and present) of our parents, George and Mary Ann.
