Harriet A. (Percevich) Luchko

Harriet A. Luchko, 94, of Clifton, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, leaving behind a family and countless friends whose lives were brighter because of her.

Born on October 31, 1931, in Passaic, New Jersey, Harriet was the daughter of the late Helen and Chester Percevich. She grew up in Garfield, where her boisterous personality was impossible to miss. A proud Garfield High School cheerleader (“Boom Chicka Boom!”), she brought spirit, energy, and enthusiasm to everything she did – a trademark that stayed with her throughout her life.

Harriet met the love of her life, Raymond Luchko, at Polish Home in Passaic, and after they married in 1955, they made Clifton their home. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and lasting friendships. In recent years, Harriet enjoyed living at Four Seasons on Valley Road, where she continued to make friends wherever she went. She also cherished spending her winters in Florida with the Ocean Summit community, where the sunshine, the smell of the ocean, and the company of friends brought her endless happiness.

Harriet is survived by her daughters, Lori Charpentier and her husband Paul, and Lynn Subick and her husband Stephen. She was the proud and devoted grandmother (“Grandy”) of Zachary Charpentier and his wife Cindy, Kendall Van Orden and her husband Jeffrey, Braezen Subick and his wife Samantha, and Saige Subick. She adored her four great-grandsons—Rowan and Rory Van Orden, and Jett and Bowen Subick—who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Nothing made Grandy happier than being surrounded by her family, and they were, without question, the greatest source of her pride.

To know Harriet was to know laughter. She had a larger-than-life personality and embraced life with unmatched enthusiasm. Whether she was telling an animated story, breaking into a silly song, or making everyone laugh with her quick wit, people couldn't help but smile in her presence. She loved playing golf as a former member of Glen Ridge Country Club, card games with friends, dice games with her family, singing, dancing, and simply being with people. She never met a conversation she couldn't start or a dance floor she wouldn't join. She had an incredible gift for making strangers feel like old friends, and no gathering was complete until Harriet had everyone laughing.

Harriet leaves behind a legacy not only of love, but of happiness. She taught her family the importance of finding reasons to celebrate, dancing whenever the music played, and that the best memories are made around a table filled with family and friends. Harriet was one of a kind, and those fortunate enough to have known her will carry her spirit with them always.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with a prayer at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Interment will follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.   A Luncheon in Celebration of Harriet's Life to follow: 12pm at Glen Ridge Country Club, 555 Ridgewood Ave, Glen Ridge, NJ 07028.
