Inge's early years were spent in the bustling streets of New York, where she was born to the late Karl and Lisa (nee Detjen) Brunkhorst. For many years, Inge served as a visiting nurse at Hackensack University Medical Center and the Community Nursing Service in Hackensack. Her nurturing spirit found a home in education as she took on the role of school nurse at Owens Middle School in New Milford and Bergen Boulevard School in Ridgefield. Her impact on the students and staff was profound, and her dedication to their well-being was unwavering.
Inge's involvement in the Education Association of Ridgefield, as well as county and state School Nurse Associations, showcased her commitment to her profession and her desire to contribute to the growth and betterment of her colleagues. Her love for cats was unparalleled, a passion that she embraced wholeheartedly.
The Zwaanendael Women's Club in Lewes, Delaware, was graced with Inge's membership, where she shared her talents and kindness with fellow members. Her intelligence and passion were evident in all her endeavors, and she will be remembered for the warmth and care she extended to everyone she met.
Inge's family was the cornerstone of her life. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 39 years, James J. Gallagher, in 2006. Her legacy lives on through her son, Sean P. Gallagher and his wife Rachel; her daughter, Erin E. Gallagher and her boyfriend, Brian Schulte; and her cherished granddaughter, Audrey J. Gallagher. Each of them reflects a piece of Inge's spirit and love.
Inge's love, kindness, and passion have indeed become a part of all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as her presence enriched the lives of those she touched.
