Jadwiga “Hedy” Skrinski, 98, of Clifton, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024. Hedy, as she was known to family and friends, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Hunter College in New York City and began working at Export-Import Bank and later in the Securities Dept. of the Bank of London and South America. After her marriage in 1952 to her beloved husband, Walter, they moved to Wallington, New Jersey before settling in Clifton 61 years ago. She earned her Public Accountant certification and together they managed a tax accounting practice.
For many years, Hedy enjoyed attending the Polish festivals and polka dancing, especially to the music of the Jimmy Sturr Orchestra. From the time she lived in New York, she became a member of the Kosciuszko Foundation and continued throughout the years, as well as belonging to the Pro Arte League of the Foundation and the Polish University Club. Hedy was also a member of the Clifton Arts Center, and the Valley Seniors. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church in Clifton where she was also a member of the Prime Timers.
Hedy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Walter J. Skrinski, Sr. in 2001.
Survivors include: her three devoted children, Carol Seminerio and her husband Joe, Barbara Gasnick and her husband Jeff, and Walter Skrinski, Jr and his partner, Lynne; eight loving grandchildren, Steve Seminerio and his wife, Gia, Jenna Maschi and her husband, Anthony, Jeffrey K. Gasnick, Kristen Gasnick, Allison Gasnick, Matthew Skrinski, Ellie Skrinski, and Katie Skrinski; her dear sister, Eugenia Gore and her husband, Joseph, one niece, Regina Cavaliere and her husband Bryan, and her nephew, Christopher Gore and his wife, Regina.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 9:15 am from the funeral home and 10:00 am St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, South Hackensack.
