John E. Glover, a man of great faith, was called to be home with his Lord on September 6, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on August 25, 1928, in Passaic, he was raised in Nutley and upon marriage, moved to Garfield where he and his wife raised their family.
John was a devoted husband to his late wife, Florence (nee Kmetz) Glover, who preceded him in death on December 20, 1992. He was a loving father to Jane Mia and her husband Joe, and to John Glover and his wife Julie. He mourned the loss of his daughter-in-law Janet Glover. John loved and was loved by his grandchildren Benjamin Lopez, Naomi Glover, Nathalie Mia, Johnny Mia and his wife Marisa, as well as his great-grandchildren Abigail Lopez, Nathaniel Lopez, Madison Mia, and Lucas Espiritu.
A proud US Navy Veteran, John served his country with honor during the Korean War aboard the USS Baltimore in the Mediterranean. John was a proud member of the Leisure Knolls Veterans Club.
John was an active member at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manchester Township, and previously at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Garfield. His involvement in church activities was a source of great joy.
Beyond his professional and religious endeavors, John was a spirited member of his community. As a Volunteer Fireman in Garfield, he demonstrated bravery and a selfless desire to help others. His leadership skills shone brightly during his tenure as President of the OWLS Senior Softball League of Leisure Knoll, where he fostered camaraderie and sportsmanship.
John will be remembered as a faith-filled man and a spirited individual whose legacy will continue to inspire. His departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories cherished by his family and the countless lives he touched. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in knowing that he is now at peace in the eternal embrace of our Heavenly Father.
