John M. Martin

John M. Martin, 60, of Wantage, passed away August 29, 2023. Born in Jersey City, John was raised in North Bergen where he lived for most of his life before moving to Wantage 20 years ago. He graduated from North Bergen High School where he excelled as a football player. He continued playing football in college at Henderson County College in Texas, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Oklahoma and Angelo State University in Texas. After college, John began a career in law enforcement. He retired as a Police Officer from the North Bergen Police Department. John was a member of the St. Philip the Apostle Council Knights of Columbus.

He was predeceased by his parents, John P. and Carol (nee Franco) Martin.

Survivors include: his fiancé, Linda Robinson; three children, Victoria Martin, John P. Martin and Casandra Landry; Linda’s children, Jamie, Jodie, Jonathan and Jordan Hild; two step-grandchildren, McKayla and Avaliz; his sister, Lisa Osorio, her husband Corey and their children, Nicole Fong (William) and Joseph Osorio; his brother, Michael Martin, his wife, Charlene and their children, Michael and Carley Martin; the mother of his children, Dawn Landry; and several extended family members including his aunt and many cousins.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 9:15 am from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Private cremation to follow.
