John F. Szerencsits

John F. Szerencsits, 89, of Clifton, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2023. Born and raised in Passaic, John lived there until moving to Clifton in 1964. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served honorably from 1956 to 1958 and then four years in the Reserves. John was employed with the United States Postal Service in Passaic and Wallington Post Office from where he retired.  After retirement, he was employed part-time at the Post Office Credit Union and part time bookkeeper at Stephen Gaal Paints in Clifton.

John was a faithful parishioner of Holy Trinity R.C. Church in Passaic where he served on many parish committees and was a longtime member of the Tri Club where he once served as President.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Agnes (nee Ifkovits) Szerencsits.

Survivors include: his beloved wife, Johanna (nee Zimmermann); his two devoted daughters, Diane DeLorenzo and her husband, Richard and Maryann Szerencsits; his loving grandsons, Thomas DeLorenzo and his wife, Kerri and Matthew DeLorenzo; one great-grandson, Joseph DeLorenzo; and his dear brother, Edward Szerencsits and his wife, Johanna; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023 at 9:15 from the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass at St. Philip Church, 797 Valley Rd, Clifton. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
