José M. Borrajo, 62, of Clifton passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside on Thursday February 29th, 2024. Born in Toén, Orense, Galicia, Spain, José came to the United States as a young teenager and wound up living in Weehawken for many years before moving to Clifton thirty-three years ago.
With heavy hearts, his dear family bids farewell to him as he was a devoted son, cherished husband, loving father, beloved brother, respected father-in-law and adored grandfather. A proud Spaniard through and through, José found joy in the simple pleasures in life, often sharing laughter and stories over a glass of his favorite wine and a slice of Manchego. His passion for soccer was unmatched, both on the field as a player in his younger days and then in the stands as a fervent fan of both of his sons and of his beloved Spain, always sporting his lucky number 5 jersey. He dedicated his life to his family and had a tremendous work ethic yet always remained humble. José lived by the motto “Life is good” and spread positivity and kindness wherever he went. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of having known him and in the hearts of those who did, his memory will forever remain as that of the all-around ‘good man’ that he was.
José was predeceased by his loved and missed parents, Enrique Borrajo Rodriguez and Amelia Rodriguez.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly forty years, Marilyn (Santana) Borrajo, of Clifton; his two devoted sons: Jonathan Borrajo and his wife, Stephanie, of Stamford, CT and Joe Borrajo and his wife, Kamila Frej, of Clifton; his dear sister, Efigenia Borrajo Rodriguez; and by his two cherished granddaughters: Alessandra Natalie and Isabela Amelia Borrajo.
Visiting will be Sunday from 2-6pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton.
