Julio Morales Obituary

Julio C. Morales, 88, of Clifton, formerly of Saddle Brook, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024.

Julio was born and raised in Facatativá, Colombia and studied engineering at the University of San Andrés. He immigrated to the United States in 1961 to the city of Hackensack, NJ. Julio and his beloved wife Stella resided in Saddle Brook, NJ for 30 years, where they raised their four children. Most recently, he lived in Clifton NJ. Julio was employed at Thermo Electric as a production planner for twenty-five years. Following his retirement from there, he founded Romo Equipment- an importing and exporting business, where he served as owner and president. He was a faithful parishioner at St Philip the apostle RC church in Saddle Brook, and later worshipped at St Philip’s in Clifton. Don Julio, as he was affectionately referred to, was a loving, kind and positive man who found the good in everyone and everything. He was devoted to his family, passionate about soccer, an avid Sudoku player and a loyal NY Mets fan. Dancing with his wife Stella was a favorite pastime, along with his fondness for classical music. Julio and Stella hosted “Chicken Parm Thursday” for decades while lovingly tending to their family members. Three generations of his family members eagerly attended the delicious weekly dinner in the family home. Julio was thankful for all his friends and family, and the memories that will now carry on forever. And, in the words of his favorite television character, “Just one more thing”…no Saturday night could or would ever have been complete without watching Columbo.

Julio was predeceased by his loved and deeply missed wife, Lilia Stella (nee Parra) Morales, on August 24, 2021 as well as by his three dear siblings: Helen, Concha and Jorge Morales.

He is survived by his four loving and devoted children: Viviana Wisse and her husband, Robert, of Clifton, Claudia Bergen and her husband, Kevin, also of Clifton, Julio Morales and his wife, Tami, of Oakland and Susan Morales of Fair Lawn; eleven cherished grandchildren: Robert Wisse and his wife Martina, Nicole Rivera and her husband Jon, Ryan Bergen, Jacqueline Bergen and her fiancé Campbell Toye, Madeline Lyons, Derek Morales, Matthew Lyons, Helena Lyons, Stella Lyons, Natalie Morales and Dylan Morales; two treasured great-grandchildren: Adrian Wisse and Jonathan Todd (JT) Rivera and was looking forward to the arrival of his third (Wisse).
