Lawrence John Cattai

Lawrence John Cattai, known affectionately as Larry to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 73 in Wayne, New Jersey. Born on July 6, 1952, in Passaic, New Jersey, Larry was a lifelong resident of Clifton and a cherished member of the community.

Larry was the beloved son of the late Lorenzo and Palma Cattai and a caring brother to Donna Bivaletz and Lisa Freeman, along with her husband Kevin. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces, Tami Bivaletz and Jaclyn Tyson, and her husband Marc, as well as his nephews, Ryan and Luke Freeman. His role as a great-uncle to Jon, Brandon and Zac Tyson was one he held with great pride and joy.

Larry was a graduate of William Paterson University. For many years he served on an alumni board at WPU.

Before his well-earned retirement, Larry dedicated 28 years of service as a Senior Staff Claim Representative with Allstate Insurance Co. in Paramus. His commitment to his work was evident in the diligence and integrity he brought to his role every day. Larry's professional journey began with earlier positions at Stop and Shop, Grand Union and Food Fair where he developed a strong work ethic and a reputation for reliability.

Larry's life was enriched by his many interests and hobbies. He was an avid billiards player enjoying the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. Larry was a big fan of the New York Yankees, following their games and enjoying the team’s successes and infrequent failures. 

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19, 2025 at 11:00 am at the funeral home followed by the entombment at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson.
