Our hearts are broken and it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lisa Ann Gorab (61) on June 4, 2022. Raised in Clifton, NJ, Lisa attended public schools in Clifton and then graduated from Lehigh University in 1983. While working full-time she attended Seton Hall Law School and graduated with honors in 1989. She was President and became the first female Managing Director of Wilentz, Goldman, and Spitzer. Throughout the years, Lisa received many honors and accolades in the legal and business community. (see: wilentz.com/attorneys/lisa-a-gorab).
Besides her professional career, Lisa was a devoted mom and community and governmental leader. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed time at the beach. Anyone who knew Lisa was immediately drawn to her warmth and genuineness. Her ability to be “everything to everyone” was second to none. While often juggling multiple family and professional matters at one time, she would often offer help to anyone who needed it. As an influencer, Lisa taught and instilled a sense of accomplishment and independence to not only her daughters but students and those less fortunate. She championed empowerment of women in the workplace.
Lisa is survived by her two loving daughters, Sydney and Brooke Butler of Westfield, her parents Nicholas and Somaya Gorab of Clifton, brothers Dr. Glenn Gorab and his wife, Dr. Betty Keller of Franklin Lakes and Gordon Gorab and his wife Kathleen of Wayne, and nieces and nephews; Lauren, Nicholas, Gordon, Tracy, and Matthew who all share wonderful memories of their aunt.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, and so very dear”
