Lois (Geene) Tanis

Lois (nee Geene) Tanis, 78, of Clifton, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2021.

            Born in Passaic, Ms. Tanis was a lifelong resident of Clifton. Prior to retiring in 2014, she had been employed as a Registered Nurse, spending most her career with St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. She was a proud member of the Newark Fire Dept. Bell and Siren Club and served as Treasurer for many years.

            Ms. Tanis was predeceased by her dearly missed parents, Peter J. Geene, Jr. and Antoinette R. (nee Broekamp) Geene and by her beloved Shepherd-mix, Zeus.

            She is survived by her four loving and devoted children: Cheryl Murcko of Belleville, Thomas Hayden and his wife, Toni-Ann, of North Arlington, Shannon Levy and her husband, Michael, of Clifton and Courtney Panaretos and her husband, Harry, of Emerson; eleven cherished grandchildren: Jessica, Megan, Courtney, Brandon, Troy, Paige, Erin, Jordan, Hailey, Daniel and Steven; and her cherished Boxer-mix, Rusty Grace.

            Visiting will be Wednesday from 4-8pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral Thursday 9:15am from the funeral home and 10:00am at St. Philip the Apostle RC Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. The family kindly requests that all those in attendance please wear masks for both the visitation as well as the funeral. Entombment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum, Upper Montclair. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee (www.elephants.com), P.O.
