Loretta H. Sagan, 92, of Clifton, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Sagan lived in Connecticut where she graduated from Bullard-Havens Technical High School. Mrs. Sagan was a sewing instructor as a young woman. She was a talented clothing designer who enjoyed making clothes for family and friends.
After years of being a stay-at-home mother, Mrs. Sagan worked at Wechsler’s Department Store in Passaic where she was promoted to a department manager until their closing. She then was employed with Hoffman-LaRoche in Nutley and Automatic Data Processing (ADP) in Clifton. While at ADP, she maintained perfect attendance during her 10-year employment and retired when the company relocated to Parsippany.
Mrs. Sagan was a faithful parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel in Passaic and St. Michael’s Cathedral Chapel in Woodland Park. An active member of the parish, Mrs. Sagan had served as President of the Ladies Guild, was a member of the Rosary Society and a member of the Mother’s Club. She also had been the first Byzantine Catholic President of the Passaic-Clifton National Council of Catholic Women as well as a member of the Paterson Diocese Council of Catholic Women.
Always willing to lend a hand, Mrs. Sagan volunteered at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Passaic, St. Michael’s Cathedral Chapel in Woodland Park, the Byzantine Eparchy of Passaic and St. Bonaventure R.C. Church in Paterson.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Peter J. Sagan in 1974; and her brother and his wife, Leonard and Dorothy Sagan.
Survivors include: her two devoted sons, Peter Paul Sagan of Clifton and Michael David Sagan of Little Falls; her Godchild, Sandra Pezza of Easton, PA; nephews, Michael and Alina McQuade and their family of Clifton and Joseph McQuade of Pelham, NY; ten cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Parastas will be held Sunday at 5:00 pm. A Byzantine Liturgy will be held 9:30 am Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Michael’s Cathedral Chapel, 415 Lackawanna Avenue, Woodland Park. Please meet directly at the Chapel.
