Lorraine Vassallo Obituary

Lorraine Clair (nee Earle) Vassallo, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 95 in Clifton, NJ. Born on December 5, 1929, in Passaic, NJ . Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Katherine Earle as well as her siblings Thomas Earle, John (Jackie) Earle, and Catherine Gangi.

Lorraine was thoughtful and kind, with a sharp wit and strong work ethic

Lorraine, affectionately known by her family nickname as Honey, spent her very happy childhood in Passaic and later lived in Nutley and Clifton. Throughout her working years she enjoyed many years at Hoffman-LaRoche in Nutley and later at Rowe Manse Emporium in Clifton prior to retirement.

Beyond her professional life, Lorraine had previously been active with the Bloomfield Columbiettes and as an election day Volunteer.  She also enjoyed movies, was always up for a long car trip and reading

Lorraine's passion for music was evident, especially later in life. She found great joy in the melodies of the timeless classics of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett and knew every word. These artists were a source of comfort and happiness for her.

Described by those who knew her as a firecracker. She approached every interaction with a warm smile and an open heart, leaving a legacy of compassion and grace that will be remembered by all.

She is survived by her loving children Mark W. Senda, and his wife Michele; her daughters, Colleen Senda and Kathleen Vassallo and her partner Richard Gatti; and the beloved memory of her late son, John K. Senda, who preceded her in death. Lorraine's spirit will continue to live on through her grandchildren, Mark R. Senda and his wife Ashley, Janell Downs and her husband Luke and Ross Senda and his wife Rachel; and great-grandchildren, Harrison Senda, Harper Senda, Josephine Downs and Aurora Downs. As well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Lorraine's life was a journey of love, laughter, and endurance. As we bid farewell to this resilient woman, we celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives and the unwavering love she shared with us. Her legacy will continue to inspire us, and her memory will be a guiding light for generations to come. Lorraine Clair Vassallo will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be a part of the community she loved so dearly.
